Accelerating the Maritime Transition: Scaling Maritime Solutions Through Smart Policy
During Climate Week NYC, Green Fuels for Green Shipping will bring together governments, shipowners, fuel producers, investors and climate leaders to discuss what is needed to take green shipping from individual projects to deployment at scale.
The maritime transition is already underway, with projects progressing across vessels, fuels, ports and infrastructure. But investment is not yet moving at the pace or geographic scale needed. Clear and predictable policy can help provide the confidence for industry and investors to move projects forward and build new markets.
The discussion will explore the policy, finance and investment conditions needed to accelerate this transition, and look at the opportunities it can create for green fuel production, infrastructure and industrial development in emerging and developing economies, including through green shipping corridors, ports and fuel hubs.
The event comes at an important point in the international shipping negotiations, shortly after ISWG-GHG 22 and ahead of MEPC 85. It will provide an opportunity to reflect on the latest IMO discussions and what they mean for governments, industry and investors as decisions on the future global framework for shipping continue.
