Momentum is also building ahead of COP31, which is expected to place greater emphasis on industrial decarbonisation, clean commodities and more resilient energy system. We have identified COP31 as a strategic opportunity to advance new partnerships, investment, demand-side initiatives, common standards, and regional cooperation for green iron and sustainable shipping.

• Showcase regional progress in green iron, green hydrogen and related industrial decarbonisation initiatives including maritime decarbonisation to strengthen confidence in emerging Asia Pacific green iron value chains.
• Facilitate regional collaboration among governments, industry, investors, and civil society to accelerate investment, cross-border partnerships and market development for green iron enabled by green hydrogen and efficient low-emission shipping.
• Identify practical solutions to overcome key barriers to market formation, including production costs, demand creation, common standards, certification, financing mechanisms and long-term offtake arrangements.
• Promote resilient and competitive industrial supply chains by advancing regional cooperation on green iron as a strategic commodity that strengthens both industrial competitiveness and energy resilience while improving the sustainability and resilience of maritime trade.
• Strengthen the GH2 APAC Alliance Regional Platform as the leading regional forum for dialogue, knowledge exchange and collaboration on green hydrogen-enabled industrial transformation across both green iron and steel production and maritime transport.
