Development finance for the green hydrogen economy: Priority actions for development finance institutions
Development finance for the green hydrogen economy: Priority actions for development finance institutions
We must replace fossil fuels through an unprecedented expansion of renewable energy and green hydrogen. For this to happen quickly in developing and emerging economies, public development finance institutions (DFIs) hold the key. This report launched on Finance Day at the COP27 UN Climate Conference on 9 November 2022 identifies four areas where the efforts of DFIs can make a difference: policy support; innovative financing; bridging the price gap between green and fossil hydrogen; and promoting global standards.
For the first time this report also brings together the plans for scaling up green hydrogen investments among leading DFIs working in developing and emerging markets.
