Green Hydrogen Vision

Samoa envisions a future where green hydrogen plays a significant role in the country’s transition to a sustainable energy system. As part of its broader renewable energy strategy, Samoa seeks to harness its abundant renewable resources, particularly solar and wind, to produce green hydrogen, thereby reducing its reliance on imported fossil fuels and mitigating the impacts of climate change. Green hydrogen could help Samoa address energy storage challenges and provide a clean energy solution for sectors such as transportation and industry, which are more difficult to decarbonise with other renewable technologies. This vision aligns with Samoa's goals of achieving energy independence, enhancing sustainability, and contributing to the Pacific region's efforts to combat climate change. By developing a green hydrogen economy, Samoa aims to promote local economic growth, create jobs, and establish itself as a leader in renewable energy in the Pacific.
